Drop off your unwanted electrical items at the 2009 Recycling RoundupHave any old televisions or computer printers taking up space in your closet? Then unload them and make a difference at the 2009 Recycling Roundup, Saturday, June 27. The City of Fort Worth Parks and Community Services Department is hosting a one-day Recycling Roundup for the community to safely dispose and recycle old electronics and other items. The event benefits the Cowboy Santas Program, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, an initiative of Fort Worth Parks and Community Services Department. People can safely drop off their unwanted items from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the La Gran Plaza east parking lot. Volunteers will be available to help unload items. Unwanted cell phones can also be dropped off at any Fort Worth Hawk Electronics store. The 2009 Recycling Roundup is collecting computer equipment, cameras, office equipment, portable electronics, cell phones, televisions, multimedia items with original covers, video games, systems and accessories, sporting goods, musical instruments, home and garden items, and non-fiction books. Items may be in any condition - damaged, non-working or fully operational. The Recycling Roundup helps the environment by reducing the amount of unwanted electrical equipment pilling up in our landfills. And proceeds from the recycled items will be used to purchase toys for the Cowboy Santas program, which provides gifts for children during the holiday season. La Gran Plaza is located at the intersection of I-35W and W. Seminary Drive in Fort Worth. To learn more, call 817-392-TOYS (8697) or visit CowboySantas. org.
